Shanker Raj Ayanger, Selangor MIC chairman and MIC Kota Raja division chief, met with the press after the Essential Goods Donation Programme, in conjunction with the Kota Raja division Deepavali celebrations. He explained that the party is donating RM250 worth of items to each of the 250 families, consisting of new clothes, other essential goods, and cash, all worth RM250.

"This is one of the ways we help to bring festive cheer while also easing their burden a little in celebrating Deepavali this year," Shanker Raj Ayanger said.

Expansion of the Programme

The donation programme will not be limited to just the Kota Raja division. Shanker Raj Ayanger revealed that the programme will also be carried out in 22 MIC divisions throughout Selangor in conjunction with Deepavali at the end of this month. This extensive programme aims to reach out to a wider audience and provide relief to those in need.

Also present at today’s event were Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and MIC president Tan Sri S. A. Vigneswaran. They took the opportunity to wish the public a happy Deepavali and to commend the Selangor MIC for its efforts in supporting the local residents.
