Negotiations Underway for Remaining 25% of Seats

Sabah PKR has completed negotiations for 75% of its allocated seats with Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties ahead of the upcoming state election. According to the party’s elections director, Peto Galim, discussions for the remaining 25%, which involve key hotspots, are expected to be concluded by January. If an agreement cannot be reached for the seats, the matter will be referred to the party presidents to resolve.

PH Component Parties

PKR is one of the four component parties of Sabah PH, alongside DAP, Upko, and Amanah. The party is working to finalize its seat allocation ahead of the 17th state election, which must be held by December 9, 2025.

Negotiations at the PH Level

Separately, Sabah PKR information chief Razeef Rakimin said negotiations at the PH level have been progressing smoothly. He attributed the delay in finalizing the remaining seats to the busy end-of-year schedule faced by the PH allies. "As for cooperation (with other parties), we haven’t made any decision yet. We’ll consider any offer before we make a final decision," he said.

Gabungan Rakyat Sabah Reaffirms Commitment

Last weekend, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah reaffirmed its commitment to continue cooperating with Sabah PH for the upcoming state election. PH joined the Sabah government following a failed coup attempt by Umno last year.

Conclusion

Sabah PKR’s progress in finalizing its seat allocation with PH component parties is a significant step forward in the lead-up to the state election. The party’s commitment to cooperation with PH and its allies reflects its focus on building a strong coalition ahead of the polls.
