KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign investors continued their selling momentum, recording a net outflow of RM502.2 million last week, marking a 12-week selling streak, according to MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Bhd (MIDF).

Net Outflows by Sector

The heaviest outflow occurred on Thursday, with a net outflow of RM162.3 million. Other days saw outflows ranging from RM56.1 million to RM111.5 million.

Top Sectors with Net Outflows

The top sectors with the highest net foreign outflows were utilities (RM142.7 million), financial services (RM130 million), and transport and logistics (RM92.5 million).

Sectors with Net Inflows

On the other hand, the sectors with the highest net foreign inflows were construction (RM271.1 million) and real estate investment trusts (REITs) (RM20 million).

Local Investors’ Buying Streak Continues

Local institutions remained net buyers for the 12th consecutive week, with a net purchase of RM281.9 million. This figure represents a decrease from the previous week’s RM304 million in net purchases.

Retail Investors Turn Net Buyers

Local retailers, who had been net sellers for two weeks, turned net buyers, contributing RM220.3 million in net inflows.

Trading Activity Surges

Trading activity surged across all categories, with average daily trading volume (ADTV) rising by 30.8% for foreign investors, 29.8% for local institutions, and 19.8% for retail investors.
