PETALING JAYA: Dato’ G Kumaar Aamaan, Chief Editor of Ottrangknews, has lauded Mahsa University’s commitment since its establishment in 2005 under the leadership of Senator Professor Tan Sri Dr. Hj. Mohamed Haniffa. The university has produced thousands of nursing and medical graduates, many of whom are still waiting for job placements in the healthcare sector, particularly within public hospitals.
Dato’ G Kumaar emphasized the importance of government intervention, urging the MIC senator to raise the matter in Parliament. He called for collaboration between the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF), the Ministry of Health, and other relevant departments to guarantee employment opportunities for healthcare graduates.
“Many students rely on PTPTN loans, and it is essential for the government to fulfil Mahsa University’s mission by ensuring that graduates secure meaningful employment aligned with their qualifications,” he stressed.
Dato’ G Kumaar hopes that Mahsa University will pioneer efforts to advocate for these reforms in Parliament, with Senator Professor Tan Sri Dr. Haniffa—who currently serves as Pro-Chancellor and Executive Chairman of the Mahsa Group—leading the way.
Inspired by international practices, Dato’ G Kumaar highlighted how nations such as Germany, Australia, and Singapore provide job guarantees or paid internships to fresh graduates. He urged Malaysia to adopt similar strategies to address the healthcare workforce gap and reduce the youth unemployment rate, which has reached 10.6% in 2024.
