FAM Awaits Government’s Green Light to Secure Citizenship for Heritage Players

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) is awaiting clearance from the government to grant citizenship to four heritage players for Harimau Malaya, as announced in a statement today. The FAM expressed its gratitude to the government for its continued support in enhancing the quality of the national team.

Earlier, Johor Regent Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim revealed that six to seven heritage players have been identified to represent Malaysia. Tunku Mahkota Ismail urged the government to facilitate the process of obtaining Malaysian passports, enabling the players to feature for Harimau Malaya in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers starting this March.

New Head Coach
The national team, under the guidance of new head coach Peter Cklamovski, will kick off their 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers campaign with their first Group F match against Nepal on March 25.
