Illegal Fuel and Cosmetic Smuggling Arrests Made in Rantau Panjang

Anti-Smuggling Efforts Result in Two Key Arrests

In a bold move to clamp down on smuggling activities in Rantau Panjang, a 17-year-old boy was arrested for alleged fuel smuggling into Thailand, while a separate bust yielded a seizure of cosmetic products worth RM20,000, believed to be destined for the local market.

Fuel Smuggling Arrest

According to a statement issued by Southeast Brigade General Operations Force Commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid, a team from Battalion 9 conducted a patrol at an illegal jetty in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas yesterday. At approximately 11 am, they spotted a suspicious motorcycle ride near the jetty.

Upon investigation, the boy was found to be carrying more than 40 liters of petrol without any documentation, leading authorities to suspect that the fuel was being smuggled into Thailand. Both the fuel and motorcycle were seized, and an investigation is now underway under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

Cosmetic Product Seizure

In a separate operation, the same PGA team conducting a patrol in the area uncovered several boxes containing cosmetic products worth RM20,000. Preliminary investigations indicate that these products were believed to be smuggled from Thailand, intended for distribution in the local market.

Under Section 7(1)(E) of the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations 1984, the seized goods will be examined further to determine their authenticity and potential illegal distribution channels.

Conclusion

The recent arrests serve as a significant blow to criminal organizations involved in fuel and cosmetic smuggling. It is essential to continue to collaborate with local authorities and implement stringent measures to curb these illegal activities, protecting public health and safety in the process.
