KUALA LUMPUR: Another heated issue arises as Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin raises serious concerns over the leasing of 28 AW139 helicopters valued at a staggering RM16.6 billion. This could be a major scandal waiting to be exposed!
Hamzah questioned why Malaysia has to pay such an exorbitant price for leasing these helicopters, while countries like Poland are purchasing the same helicopters at a significantly lower cost. He also warned that this agreement could burden the nation’s finances in the future, potentially leading to a debt crisis.
The question that must be asked now is – why did the government sign such an expensive lease contract? Why lease when we could purchase the helicopters and create job opportunities by awarding maintenance contracts to local companies?
