KOTA BHARU, February 11, 2025 – Thai police have warned Malaysians traveling to southern Thailand, particularly Narathiwat province, to avoid fishing villages identified as hotspots for drug-related activities.

Narathiwat Police Chief, Colonel Pratya Baite, stated that drug traffickers in the province often use fishing villages as operational bases.

> “We have received information that drug dealers use these villages as meeting points and drug distribution hubs for local pushers. Therefore, the Narathiwat police will conduct regular operations to apprehend those involved. These operations will be carried out around the clock, and so far, they have been successful,” he said.

He also advised Malaysians to steer clear of these fishing villages to avoid any trouble.

Pratya further revealed that yaba pills and heroin remain the most sought-after drugs by Malaysian traffickers in Thailand, based on information obtained from arrested Thai drug suppliers.

However, he confirmed that no Malaysian drug traffickers have been arrested in the past two years. Despite this, many Thai traffickers have been detained, and investigations indicate that these two drugs are the most popular among Malaysian dealers.

Thai police continue their efforts to combat drug activities in the region and urge the public to remain vigilant and adhere to the law when traveling in the country.
