Shooting Case in Setia Alam: Suspect Shot Dead in Pulau Ketam – PDRM Successfully Handles Crime
Kuala Lumpur, 18 February – The suspect involved in the shooting at a shopping mall in Setia Alam, Selangor, on 8 February, was shot dead by the police in Pulau Ketam, Klang Selatan, early this morning.
The man, in his 30s, was shot by a police team from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) and the Selangor Police Contingent (IPK) JSJ at around 3 am after an exchange of gunfire in a hotel room. Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, confirmed the incident and stated, “The police team successfully shot the suspect. Police also found two firearms with live ammunition with the suspect.”
Further checks revealed that the wanted suspect had nine criminal records, including one drug-related case and seven robbery cases. The suspect is also believed to have been involved in the shooting incident at Setia City Mall on 8 February.
In the incident, which occurred around 10:50 pm on that date, a cleaning worker was injured by the suspect’s gunfire. The suspect, enraged after being reprimanded by the worker for placing items in the area, fired four shots, injuring the worker’s legs and buttocks. The suspect then forced a witness to take him out of the shopping mall. He also hijacked a Perodua Ativa driven by a visitor, forcing the driver to take him out of Shah Alam before ordering the driver to stop by the highway and disappearing.
PDRM’s investigation revealed that the suspect’s actions were likely triggered by his anger after being reprimanded by the cleaning worker. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department Director, Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, also confirmed this in the preliminary investigation report.
