Wee Ka Siong Speaks Out on KWSP Issue, Netizens Question Anthony Loke’s Silence

Must Read

Former Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong, continues to capture public attention for his vocal stance on the sale of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) shares by the Employees Provident Fund (KWSP). His bold action in defending contributors’ interests has earned praise from netizens, who have also compared him to Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

One netizen expressed appreciation for Wee Ka Siong’s courage in fighting for this issue, in contrast to Anthony Loke, who has remained silent on the matter. The netizen also hoped that Wee Ka Siong would be reinstated as Transport Minister, believing he would bring more positive changes if given another opportunity.

“Wee Ka Siong dares to speak up for the people, unlike Anthony Loke, who remains silent on the KWSP issue. If Wee returns as Transport Minister, there will definitely be more improvements,” wrote a social media user.

Wee Ka Siong Ready to Be Sued, Calls for Full Disclosure

Meanwhile, Wee Ka Siong has stated that he is not afraid of KWSP suing him, viewing it as an opportunity to expose more information about the issue in the interest of contributors.

“I am a man; I will not run away. If they want to sue, go ahead. This gives us the chance to reveal everything we know. I only seek transparency and the best outcome for contributors,” he said.

He also questioned why KWSP sold its shares in MAHB while Khazanah Nasional increased its investment during the same period. From November 2022 to December 2023, Khazanah increased its shareholding by 35.5 million units, whereas WAP, which follows its own investment policies, purchased 17.632 million shares.

“Why didn’t Khazanah sell its shares? Why only KWSP? If they sell 2.3 million shares today, they will face significant difficulties in buying them back later,” he added.

Call for Investment Policy Review

Wee Ka Siong also urged the government to re-evaluate the investment policies of government-linked entities (GLCs) such as KWSP and Khazanah to ensure transparency and safeguard public interests.

“We are not trying to create controversy, but the people have the right to know what is happening. I have been in the government and Parliament for a long time, and I cannot remain silent when certain parties manipulate the situation. I only seek a transparent explanation,” he said.

In this issue, Wee Ka Siong’s courage in defending contributors’ rights has earned widespread praise, while Anthony Loke’s silence continues to be questioned by netizens.
