Terengganu FC’s Draw Against Kuching City FC Leaves Coach Badrul Afzan Disappointed
KUALA NERUS, Feb 22 (Bernama) – Terengganu FC (TFC) head coach Badrul Afzan Razali was a disappointed man following his team’s 2-2 draw against Kuching City FC in their Super League match at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium (SSMZA) here last night.
Disappointment and Frustration
Badrul Afzan said his players’ failure to convert chances and a lapse in focus by the defence cost the Turtles, as they had to settle for just one point despite leading 2-0 earlier in the match.
"The Tonight, we saw too many weaknesses. I am very disappointed because we conceded two goals in just two minutes. We lost focus… lost concentration," he said.
"We controlled the match in both halves, but we became too comfortable and allowed the opponents to score easy goals. Just like in previous matches, we created many chances but failed due to poor finishing," he added.
Kuching City FC’s Determination Pays Off
Meanwhile, Kuching City FC head coach Aidil Shahrin Sahak praised the fighting spirit and teamwork displayed by his players.
"Despite trailing 0-2, my squad did not give up and kept pushing to secure at least a point from the away match," he said.
"I hope we can maintain this momentum in our match against Kelantan next week. We need to work hard to get three points. We have four consecutive away matches coming up. It will definitely be exhausting, especially since we are not based in the peninsula. But we will try to push through and collect as many points as possible," he added.
Current League Standings
TFC currently sit in fourth place with 28 points after 19 matches, while the Cats follow closely in fifth place with 24 points from 18 matches.
Conclusion
The draw against Kuching City FC leaves Terengganu FC’s hopes of securing a top-three finish in the Super League in jeopardy, and their current fourth-place position at risk.
