Senior Police Officer Pleads Not Guilty to Theft and Omitting to Apprehend Person
KUALA LUMPUR: A senior police officer, Azlan Sudin, 45, pleaded not guilty in the magistrates’ court today to two charges – theft and omitting to apprehend a person.
Theft Charge
Azlan, an inspector overseeing a district police station, was accused alongside another person still at large of stealing RM300,000 and a black Prada bag belonging to Lee Hooi Leng, 35, at a condominium unit in Twin Arkz, Bukit Jalil, on February 21 at around 5:45 pm. He was charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code with theft, read with Section 34, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine, upon conviction.

He was accused of deliberately allowing Tan Hou, 35, who was under investigation for an offence under Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960, to evade arrest at the Bukit Jalil police station lobby on February 21 at around 6:50 pm.
Azlan was charged under Section 221(c) of the Penal Code, which carries a punishment of up to two years in prison, upon conviction. Magistrate Noorelynna Hanim Halim granted bail of RM3,000 with one surety and set May 19 for mention. Deputy public prosecutor Nursyuhada Husna Sulaiman handled the prosecution for the second case.
