KUALA LUMPUR, March 18, 2025 – Malaysian politics may witness another major shake-up if Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad pulls MIC and MCA into Perikatan Nasional (PN), while two Malay DAP leaders, Syahredzan Johan and Young Syefura Othman, shift to PAS. This scenario could spell the downfall of the Madani government led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the next General Election (GE).
MIC and MCA are reportedly growing disillusioned with DAP’s influence in the Madani government and may find greater political security in PN, which has a strong Malay voter base. Meanwhile, lawyer Yusfarizal Yusoff’s recent remarks suggest that Syahredzan and Syefura could potentially move to PAS—an outcome that would be a severe blow to DAP.
Mahathir, who has a history of toppling governments, remains a formidable force in Malaysian politics. If he successfully orchestrates the migration of MIC, MCA, and key Malay DAP leaders to PN, the Madani government could face its greatest challenge yet.
Can Anwar Ibrahim hold his ground? Or will history repeat itself with yet another government collapse?
