March 28, 2025 – Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, confirmed that independent preacher Zamri Vinoth has been arrested in Perlis and will be brought to the Kangar court tomorrow for a remand application.
PETALING JAYA: Independent preacher Zamri Vinoth has been detained by the police following a Facebook post that allegedly threatened public order and touched on religious sensitivities. Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, stated that the post was related to the relocation of the Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple in Kuala Lumpur, which has caused tensions among the Indian community.
The firm action taken by the police has received full support from the Indian community in Malaysia. Dato G Kumaar Aamaan, Chief Editor of Ottrangknews and a social activist, also expressed deep appreciation to PDRM, especially Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and the Padang Besar District Police Headquarters (IPD Padang Besar), for swiftly detaining Zamri Vinoth.
“We thank PDRM for taking immediate action against individuals spreading incitement and insulting the Hindu religion. Indians across the nation demand justice for his remarks, which have deeply hurt Hindu followers. This is an essential step in maintaining national harmony,” said Dato G Kumaar Aamaan.
Previously, Zamri Vinoth was accused of making statements that insulted the Hindu religion and the Indian community, including spreading false information and inciting religious sensitivities. His comments regarding the temple relocation and negative remarks about the Hindu faith have angered the Indian community, who view them as an insult to their religion.
According to Tan Sri Razarudin, a police report was lodged yesterday at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD Dang Wangi) regarding the post, with the complainant accusing Zamri of sedition, religious defamation, and inciting racial tension. This arrest is expected to bring justice to the Hindu community and serve as a lesson to others not to exploit religious and racial issues in the country.
Currently, Indians across the country are awaiting the legal proceedings and hope the authorities will take appropriate action for the sake of justice and societal harmony.
