8 FRU Officers Killed: Tragedy or Systemic Negligence? Public Questions Safety Standards After Fatal Crash in Teluk Intan

PETALING JAYA: At least eight Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel lost their lives in a tragic accident involving a FRU truck and a lorry in Teluk Intan, Perak, this morning — sparking concerns over operational safety and vehicle conditions within enforcement agencies.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Sayani Saidon confirmed that the FRU truck was carrying 15 passengers and a driver.
“So far, eight fatalities have been confirmed,” she told the media.

Rescue operations are still ongoing at the crash site along Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam.

It is believed the FRU personnel were returning to Ipoh after completing an operation in Teluk Intan. Authorities have yet to clarify the nature of that operation or whether fatigue played a role in the accident.

Sayani said the Teluk Intan Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency alert at 8.45am.

According to a Bernama report, Hilir Perak police chief Bakri Zainal Abidin stated that three individuals are in critical condition, while seven others sustained minor injuries.

This incident has triggered public outcry online, with many demanding an immediate audit of all enforcement transport operations. Critics are also questioning whether overworked officers and poor fleet maintenance contributed to the deadly crash.
