PETALING JAYA: National mixed doubles shuttlers Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei failed to make it to the semi-finals of the China Open.

The world No 4 pair went down to current All England champions Guo Xin Wa-Chen Fang Hui 19-21, 15-21 in a 42-minute match.

The Malaysians made many unforced errors, in a far cry from their determined play in the last two rounds.

The world No 9 Chinese pair will meet either compatriots Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping or Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto-Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja from Indonesia in the semi-finals tomorrow.

It was a disappointment for Tang Jie-Ee Wei, who reached the semi-final stage of last week’s Japan Open before losing, also to a Chinese pair.
