KLFA Settles Part of Outstanding EPF Contributions for KL City Players

The Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) has settled part of the outstanding Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributions for Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City) players, which have been overdue since 2021 up to February this year.

EPF Contributions Paid

KLFA president Syed Yazid Syed Omar announced that the association has paid a sum of RM50,000 towards the EPF arrears, with the remaining balance to be paid in stages. "EPF contributions for this month and the coming months will continue to be paid as usual. We have paid RM50,000 for EPF arrears over 24 months," he told reporters at the KLFA Football Supporters Club’s Annual General Meeting.

Salary Arrears

Meanwhile, Syed Yazid revealed that one month’s salary arrears for October is expected to be credited into the players’ accounts by tomorrow. The payment was made last week, but some technical issues from the bank caused a slight delay.

Full Ownership of Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium

In another development, Syed Yazid said KLFA is considering full ownership of the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). "We need to meet the new Mayor, and as part of the previous process, we had signed an agreement with DBKL for 15 years," he said.

Support to KLFA Football Supporters Club

Syed Yazid added that the association will offer Malaysia Cup match tickets and T-shirts to members of the KLFA Football Supporters Club and will channel a donation of RM5,000 to the club.

Re-Election of KLFA Football Supporters Club President

Earlier, Syazrul Effendy Ibrahim was re-elected as president of the KLFA Football Supporters Club for the 2024-2026 term.

Conclusion

The KLFA’s efforts to settle the outstanding EPF contributions and salary arrears for KL City players are a positive step towards resolving the issue. The association’s consideration of full ownership of the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium and its support to the KLFA Football Supporters Club also demonstrate its commitment to the development of football in Kuala Lumpur.
