Meet Thorin, the Ice Cube-Loving Hot-Blooded Labrador

A Gentle Giant with a Few Quirks

Thorin is a Labrador Retriever who loves a good head scratch. He’s a gentle giant with a unique personality that sets him apart from other dogs. Sarah Nathan, his owner, shared with FMT Lifestyle that Thorin has been obsessed with eating ice cubes since he was a pup.

A Name with a Special Story

Thorin’s name has a special story behind it. Sarah and her family had rescued a black kitten and named her Loki, so they thought of calling their new puppy “Thor” as a fitting match. However, they decided to name him “Thorin” after Thorin Oakenshield from “The Hobbit.” With his slightly shorter Labrador build, he became their little “dwarven king.”

A Creature of Comfort

When he’s not crunching on ice, Thorin amuses the family with his peculiar behavior. Instead of curling up on the sofa like other dogs, he perches on the edge, back straight, sitting just like a human. “It’s the cutest, strangest thing,” Sarah says. “He looks like he’s figured out our ways and joined in.”

Thorin is also a creature of comfort, preferring to sleep on the bed. He loves to be close to his family and is often found snuggled up beside them.

A Surprising Passion for Raw Vegetables

Thorin also has a surprising passion for raw vegetables. “If we’re chopping veggies, he’ll be right there, waiting for a piece,” Sarah added. He’s a bit of an oddity, but his family loves him for it.

A Heart of Gold

Thorin’s easygoing nature shines in other ways too. When Loki, the family cat, had kittens, Thorin was happy to babysit, letting the little ones climb all over him. If he felt overwhelmed, he’d gently move aside – an ever-patient giant with a heart of gold.

A Tough Time Losing Loki

However, Thorin’s life wasn’t always easy. After two years of happy companionship, Loki went missing one day and never returned. Thorin, usually so playful and upbeat, was visibly upset. “It was heartbreaking to watch,” Sarah recalled. “We were all sad, but Thorin took it the hardest.”

A Conclusion

Thorin’s quirks and peculiarities make him a beloved family member. He’s a gentle giant with a heart of gold, and his family loves him for who he is. Despite the ups and downs of life, Thorin remains a loyal and loving companion.
