Police in Malaysia have arrested a local man and a foreign woman suspected of colluding with an international drug trafficking syndicate. The duo was arrested during a raid on a boarding house in Sekinchan, Sabak Bernam, four days ago.

The police seized drugs worth RM3.3 million during the raid. The drugs were found in three plastic packs weighing 83.15 grammes. The suspects were arrested at 5 pm, and they led the police to a house in Sungai Air Tawar where 91 plastic packages of syabu weighing 94.96 kilogrammes were found in the boot of a car.

According to Datuk Seri Khaw Kok Chin, the Director of Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN), the couple acted as transporters and "storekeepers" for the drug syndicate. They obtained the drug supplies from the north of the country and sent them to Indonesia by sea with a payment of RM140,000 per shipment. The couple has been active for the past three months and tested positive for methamphetamine.

Suspects’ Backgrounds

The male suspect, who is married and works as a mechanic, has two criminal records and five drug offences. The female suspect is a foreign national.

Remand and Investigation

The two suspects will be remanded for six days under Section 117 from November 22-27. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

International Cooperation

JSJN will work closely with the Indonesian police in exchange of information to fight drug-related issues and crime. The police will meet with the Indonesian authorities to discuss related matters from November 27-30.
