Truck Overturns on Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway, Blocking City-Bound Traffic
Accident cites Wet Road Conditions as Cause of Crash
A tanker transporting palm oil overturned on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak highway yesterday evening, blocking all city-bound traffic. The incident occurred at around 5:30 pm at KM27.9, causing a significant disruption to traffic flow.
Driver Loses Control of Lorry, Dies at the Scene
According to Gombak district police chief Noor Ariffin Nasir, the 45-year-old driver of the tanker lorry, who was traveling from Lipis, Pahang, to Klang, Selangor, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid and overturn. Unfortunately, the driver sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical assistant from Selayang Hospital.
Road Conditions Believed to be a Contributing Factor
Chief Inspector Noor Ariffin attributed the accident to slippery and wet road conditions, which made it difficult for the driver to maintain control of the vehicle.
Traffic Disruptions and Alternative Routes Suggested
Following the incident, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) advised motorists to use alternative routes to avoid the area. The highway operator also made a median opening for vehicles stuck in the traffic jam, allowing them to make a U-turn at KM28.4 and turn back towards Genting Sempah to exit the route.
Investigation Ongoing, Public Assistance Requested
