Klang, December 6 – Saravanan Subramaniam, Founder and Managing Director of India Gate Restaurant, has launched an exceptional initiative to empower local youth through a free skill training program in the food and beverage (F&B) industry.
As a bold step to address the challenge of relying on foreign workers while nurturing local talent, Saravanan introduced a six-month training program for Malaysian school leavers. Fully funded by India Gate, the program provides practical skills training and hands-on experience in restaurant operations.
“This is my personal effort to resolve workforce issues while benefiting the community. We believe in equipping Malaysian youth with the skills and opportunities to thrive in the F&B sector,” Saravanan stated.
Program Highlights
- Practical Training:
The program is 90% hands-on, tailored to participants’ interests in either management or kitchen operations. - Career Growth:
Graduates are offered roles such as Assistant Manager or Floor Captain in India Gate’s branches nationwide, depending on their skills. - Fully Sponsored:
The program includes free training, accommodation in apartments or condominiums, and meals for participants. - Job Guarantee:
Upon completing the program, participants receive certification and are required to work at India Gate for two years, ensuring stable career development. - Expert Training:
Training is conducted by corporate chefs and executive managers, ensuring high-quality learning.

The first batch will consist of 50 students, focusing on individuals with no prior F&B knowledge. Saravanan aims to elevate the living standards of local youth and enable them to build successful careers in the sector, aligning with the restaurant’s expansion plans.
“This initiative is more than a training program. It’s about creating opportunities, improving lives, and building a capable local workforce to drive our restaurant’s success sustainably,” Saravanan added.
