Kuala Lumpur — Ottrangknews Editor-in-Chief, Dato’ G. Kumaar Aamaan, has openly advised the Prime Minister to stop making false statements, whether before or after forming the government. According to him, such actions not only damage the personal credibility of a leader but also erode public trust in government institutions that are supposed to work sincerely and faithfully.
“When a leader frequently changes their statements or makes empty promises, it triggers doubts among civil servants and the people about the government’s sincerity. In fact, many netizens are now raising various questions through the Telegram investigation channel and on social media,” he said in a statement today.
For example, before coming into power, the leadership vowed to “Arrest Azam Baki.” However, after taking office, the contract of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner was not only extended once but three times in a row — in 2023, 2024, and most recently in 2025. The decision to extend Azam Baki’s service has sparked serious public questioning.
According to local and international media reports, including FMT Reporters and Bloomberg, the service term of the MACC Chief was extended on 10 May 2023, again on 10 May 2024, and most recently on 3 April 2025.
Dato’ G. Kumaar Aamaan emphasized that actions like these could become one of the main reasons that would destabilize the unity government in the upcoming general election. “If the trust of the people is betrayed, they will not hesitate to topple the government through the ballot box,” he said firmly.
He urged the current government to return to the original promises made while in the opposition, in order to uphold the dignity and integrity of the nation’s administration.
