PUTRAJAYA, February 1, 2025 – Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, has emphasized that her ministry will not compromise on issues of misconduct related to project procurement under Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
She stated that the internal investigation into the alleged misconduct involving actor and director Datuk Afdlin Shauki, concerning a RM4 million project, is expected to be completed next week.
According to Dr. Zaliha, DBKL’s integrity unit has been instructed to conduct a thorough investigation, calling in all relevant parties, including Afdlin, to complete the inquiry.
> “If Mr. Afdlin wishes to reject and deny the allegations, that is his right. However, from the perspective of departmental governance and agency accountability, an investigation must still be conducted transparently and professionally,” she said when speaking to the media after officiating the 2025 Urban Agriculture and Kelulut Open Day (HTPBKP) in Putrajaya today.
She also stressed that DBKL must take immediate action if evidence of misconduct in the project procurement process is found.
> “In the Federal Territories, we are introducing a work culture based on integrity. This means good governance and freedom from corruption, ensuring that services to the public can be provided more effectively,” she added.
Previously, the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif, confirmed that DBKL is closely collaborating with its integrity unit to investigate allegations that have gone viral on social media since last Friday.
The allegations involve violations of governance processes in the procurement of creative production work for DBKL, which was reportedly not awarded through an open tender process.
In a statement on social media, Afdlin denied any misconduct, claiming that the issue was deliberately played up to tarnish his reputation.
DBKL is expected to announce the findings of the investigation soon to ensure transparency and integrity in public procurement management.
