KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 (Bernama) — National squash player S. Sivasangari believes her runner-up finish at the Grasshopper Cup 2025 in Zurich, Switzerland, last Sunday is a step in the right direction as she continues to grow in the understanding of her game.
Although she fell short in the final against world No. 1 Nouran Gohar of Egypt, 7-11, 12-14, 9-11, the world No. 9 hopes to carry the momentum into the 2024-2025 PSA (Professional Squash Association) World Championships to be held in Chicago, the United States from May 9-17.
“I want to take this momentum and work hard these few days, and hope to do well there,” she said in a statement today.
The 26-year-old will open her World Championships campaign against Spanish player Marta Dominguez.
This will be the first meeting between both Sivasangari and Dominguez, ranked 53rd in the world.
Meanwhile, Sivasangari also said she was encouraged by her performance throughout the Grasshopper Cup 2025 and is taking valuable lessons from the 42-minute final battle at Zurich Hauptbahnhof’s glass court.
“I am happy with the way I played at the Grasshopper Cup. But obviously, I feel I could have done better in the finals,“ she added.
