New developments in the consortium

Despite the departure of Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) from the consortium, the Berjaya Corporation Bhd-led consortium remains committed to delivering the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (KL-SG HSR) project.

The Remaining Consortium

As a result of MRCB’s decision to exit the consortium, the group of companies that will remain a part of the project will include Berjaya Rail Sdn Bhd, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB), and IJM Corporation Bhd, along with their technical partners Deutsche Bahn, Hitachi Rail, and Hyundai Rotem. According to Berjaya Corporation, this revised consortium comprises recognized leaders in infrastructure development, engineering, and transport management.

Project Goals and Objectives

The Berjaya-led consortium aims to deliver a world-class HSR system that will transform regional connectivity and economic development for Malaysia, ultimately contributing to its successful transition towards green mobility. As stated by Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, Berjaya Corporation’s founder and adviser, "We remain steadfast in our mission to deliver a world-class HSR system that will revolutionize regional connectivity and drive economic growth for Malaysia, as well as facilitate a shift towards green mobility through the high-speed rail service."

Technical and Operational Expertise

Each of the consortium’s remaining partners brings a wealth of experience in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects. Berjaya Corporation emphasized that these technical partners are well-known for their expertise in specific areas, such as rolling stock manufacturing, track development, and rail operations, and that their collective track record demonstrates their ability to successfully execute complex projects.
