Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix Attracts 184,923 Spectators
The 2024 Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (GP) at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) in Sepang, Malaysia, drew in a crowd of 184,923 spectators over three days, exceeding last year’s figure of 182,912.
SIC Chief Executive Officer’s Remarks
SIC Chief Executive Officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif expressed satisfaction with the event’s outcome, stating that although it did not meet the target of 200,000 spectators, it still exceeded last year’s attendance. “It is still a glorious day for me. Although we did not achieve 200,000 people as targeted, we still drew nearly 185,000 spectators, or to be exact 184,923 spectators,” he said.
Prime Minister’s Attendance and Rahmah Ticket Sales
The best part of this year’s edition was the attendance of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who made his first MotoGP appearance. Azhan attributed the encouraging response from the public to the Rahmah ticket sales, priced at RM49.90. “Many bought the K2 Hillstand tickets. Although it is uncovered and has no seats, they still bought the tickets and, as we saw, today (yesterday) there were many people at the K2 Hillstand. Thank you KBS (Ministry of Youth and Sports) for supporting us,” he said.
SIC’s Offer to Local Riders
Azhan announced that the SIC is open to providing space for local riders to train at the circuit, with a minimal security and marshal fee. “I promise all Malaysian riders, whoever wants to train here can just contact us and, if there is an empty slot, they can use the SIC to train. However, we need to set a stipulation based on categories, whereby those riding the ‘kapcai’ (underbone motorcycle) will not be allowed to train together with those riding 250cc and 600cc machines for safety purposes. So, we invite everyone to train here as the rental for the circuit is free,” he said.

The 2024 Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit was a successful event, attracting 184,923 spectators and exceeding last year’s attendance. The event was well-received by the public, with many taking advantage of the Rahmah ticket sales.
