The Harimau Malaya squad is set to receive a boost with the expected arrival of three heritage players next week ahead of the third-round 2027 Asian Cup Qualifier against Nepal on March 25.
Final Stages of Registration Process
National football team head coach Peter Cklamovski confirmed that the registration process for the heritage players is now in its final phase. "All Malaysian players and the process of the heritage is in the final stages and positive news will come next week for a few players," he said at a press conference.
Maximum of Three Players with More to Come in June
The maximum number of players expected to arrive is three, with more to come in June, according to Cklamovski. This development is a significant boost to the team’s chances in the upcoming qualifier.
Background on Heritage Players
Previously, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) was awaiting approval from the Malaysian government to secure citizenship for four new Harimau Malaya heritage players. FAM was also reported to be in the process of completing documentation for four other players.
