TODAK: A Hub for E-sports in Malaysia

Cyberjaya, October 24 – Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim has highlighted the potential of TODAK to become a one-stop centre for introducing and exposing Malaysians to the world of electronic sports (e-sports).

Facilities and Empowerment

According to Adam Adli, the facilities provided by TODAK are essential elements in attracting public interest and empowering the people’s understanding of the rapidly growing industry. "What I can conclude is that the public needs to be aware and exposed to the facilities provided by TODAK, which includes TODAK Academy and TODAK Studios. I hope TODAK continues to encourage the public to learn about e-sports," he said during the podcast ‘Langgar Je’, hosted by Danial Aizat Rames Abdullah, also known as Abang Lord, recently.

E-sports: A Growing Industry

Adam Adli noted that e-sports could attract interest from all segments of society, particularly the younger generation and parents. "The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) will assist the Ministry of Education (MOE) in identifying suitable games to be introduced at the school level," he said.

TODAK’s Initiatives

TODAK was established with the goal of producing more skilled workers to meet the current industry demands, especially through the TODAK Academy. Students at the academy undergo a three-month training programme, guided by instructors from various backgrounds, including relevant industries and other academic experts, before being awarded the UTMSPACE Professional Certificate, Malaysia Skills Certificate Level Three, and TODAK Certificate.

Additionally, TODAK Studios is developing an electronic game called ‘Mastra’, currently in its ‘closed Beta’ phase, with the objective of becoming Malaysia’s first recognised e-sports platform. It is expected to be officially announced by mid-next year.

Conclusion

In conclusion, TODAK has the potential to become a hub for e-sports in Malaysia, providing a platform for Malaysians to learn and engage with the rapidly growing industry. With its facilities and initiatives, TODAK is poised to empower the next generation of e-sports enthusiasts and professionals.
