Kuala Lumpur, 15 December 2024 – Discussions surrounding a potential cabinet reshuffle have intensified as the end of 2024 approaches. Political observers and citizens are calling on the Madani Government, led by the 10th Prime Minister (PMX), to make comprehensive changes to the cabinet lineup to ensure effective governance.
Many believe that certain ministries and ministers have failed to meet performance expectations. One ministry under scrutiny is the Ministry of Religious Affairs, where the Minister has been criticized for failing to implement PMX’s open policy, including fostering dialogue among various Islamic sects in Malaysia.
In recent developments, a few new names are expected to join the cabinet. Among them are Datuk Seri M. Saravanan from MIC and Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong from MCA, both of whom are said to be likely to retain their ministerial roles due to their prior experience in government.
However, there is speculation that Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo may be dropped from the cabinet. Reports suggest that his position could be filled by Bukit Jelutong MP RSN Rayer from DAP, who is seen as a more aggressive and proactive advocate for public issues.
Additionally, Sungai Buloh MP Datuk Ramanan Ramakrishnan (PKR) is rumored to be included in the new cabinet as part of efforts to strengthen multicultural representation in the administration.
The public has proposed that all ministries and deputy ministers be evaluated based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Such evaluations are viewed as essential to ensure only high-performing ministers remain in the cabinet.
This cabinet reshuffle is expected to strengthen the Madani Government and prepare the administration for the upcoming General Election.
