PETALING JAYA, July 5 (Bernama) — Newcomers CG Esports are not intimidated and are ready to pull off a surprise as they look for a chance to advance to the grand finals of the 16th season of the Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB) Malaysia Professional League (MPL MY), scheduled for this September.

CG Esports owner, CikuGais (real name Muhammad Danial Mohamad Fuad) said they are indeed targeting a slot in the grand finals to brighten the chances of representing Malaysia in the MLBB M7 World Championship in Indonesia next January.

He said that the target of reaching the MPL MY grand finals next season is not impossible to achieve given that the average team members are lined up with the experience of having faced other teams before.

“We will train more because the target is the MLBB M7 World Championship next year. Most of my players have never played at the international level.

“So, I want to prove that even a new team can advance to M7 and compete fiercely in MPL MY next season,” he told Bernama after the launch of the new Royale Chulan Gaming (RCG) Arena here today.

Meanwhile, CikuGais, who plays in the ‘Gold Lane’ (high risk-high reward) position, also announced that his team is expected to make a small shake-up by bringing in at least two players to face the new MPL MY season.

He said that two players who played last season, namely loan players Deee or Dhiwa Zulpiqar, will return to their original team ‘Todak’ while Martzy or Ammar Asyraf Abd Rahman are unable to play and want to focus on their studies.

CG Esports confirmed its slot for MPL MY season 16 after emerging champion of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Academy League (MAL) season 3 by beating GamesMY Kelantan (GMXK) 4-0 in the final recently.

Meanwhile, a grateful CikuGais moved to the Royale Chulan Damansara hotel when it built RCG which is their official training ground from now on.

“I can’t believe it because even though it’s new, there are parties willing to collaborate with us. We will use it to the best of our ability to train for MPL MY,” he said.
