Controversy Surrounding “Rakyat Benci Rasuah” Rally: Anwar Stresses the Need for Justice and Continued Commitment

Must Read

DENGKIL: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that he has no issues with the “Rakyat Benci Rasuah” rally set to take place in the capital this Saturday, but urged that it be carried out fairly.

Anwar also expressed his confusion as to why the rally is only targeting his administration, which has been in power for two years, while many high-profile corruption cases occurred under previous administrations.

He emphasized his unwavering commitment to fighting corruption without compromise and vowed to continue putting pressure on any leaders involved in such practices.

“I have no problem, permission has been given. The Minister of Home Affairs mentioned that only certain places have not been given approval, but for me, there is no problem. If you want to protest, protest against corruption. The issue of corruption is raised now, I’ve been the Prime Minister for two years, why raise it now?” he said.

Anwar also reminded that corruption cases involving large sums of money must be taken seriously, pointing out that the issue should not only be focused on the current administration but must be viewed within the context of past governments.

Media reports indicate that the “Rakyat Benci Rasuah” rally is a follow-up to the Ambang Tahun Baharu rally in Sabah, which protested against state politicians allegedly involved in corruption scandals. The rally will begin in front of the Sogo shopping mall and end at Dataran Merdeka.
