On January 24, Razarudin filed a committal application, seeking to have Wan Azri imprisoned or fined for contempt of court after failing to comply with the injunction order issued on January 10.
Injunction Order
On January 10, the court issued an injunction prohibiting Wan Azri or his agents from publishing or disseminating defamatory statements against Razarudin on any social media platform until the defamation suit is resolved. The court also barred him or any of his representatives from causing the republication of statements, videos, statuses, comments, or any references to the plaintiff.
Order to Retract, Remove, and Delete Video Postings
Wan Azri was ordered to retract, remove, and delete video postings on his YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Telegram, and X accounts dated December 14, 15, 20, and 22 last year, which contained alleged defamatory statements against Razarudin.
Background of Defamation Suit
On December 26 last year, Razarudin filed a RM3 million lawsuit against Wan Azri over alleged defamation, which also involved Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Committal Proceedings
Judicial Commissioner Gan Techiong granted the application following an ex parte hearing of the application filed by lawyers S Raam Kumar and Norleena Jamal, who represented Razarudin. The hearing date for the inter parte committal application will be set later.
