AMPANG, 23 April 2025 – A shocking incident occurred at a food stall belonging to GRS Restaurant, located at No. 11, Kg Baru Ampang, Bandar Ampang, 68000 Ampang, Selangor, when a customer witnessed baby cockroaches crawling out from the stall, allegedly from the area where raw ingredients such as spices and vegetables were stored.
The customer initially visited the stall to purchase a plate of fish curry rice priced at RM30, but was surprised to receive only a small portion of fish. When asked, the foreign worker attending to him explained that the price of fish had increased, hence the limited serving.
> “I asked why the fish portion was so small, and he said the price of fish had gone up. I requested a bit more, and he added just a little and repeated that fish is expensive,” said the customer.
The situation escalated when the customer, while waiting for a RM10 plate of fried rice, noticed numerous baby cockroaches crawling out from beneath the food stall. Upon being questioned, the worker allegedly sprayed insecticide over the area, which caused even more cockroaches to emerge.
Tension rose further when a woman, believed to be the stall manager, appeared. However, she refused to identify herself and reacted angrily when asked for her name.
> “I politely asked for her name, but she became angry and asked ‘Why do you want to know my name?’ Then she instructed her staff to clean the entire stall area and tear off all the stickers,” the customer added.
The customer stressed that they did not intend to tarnish anyone’s reputation, but expressed deep concern over the safety and health of other patrons who might unknowingly consume food under such unsanitary conditions.
Netizens and the public are now urging authorities such as the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the local municipal council (PBT) to conduct an immediate investigation and take firm action against any premises that fail to prioritize hygiene and charge unreasonable prices for food.
