KUALA LUMPUR – Dato’ G Kumaar Aamaan, Chief Editor of Ottrangknews, has voiced concerns over the statement made by former Minister of Law, Dato’ Zaid Ibrahim, who claimed that at least 80% of Malaysian politicians would be eliminated if harsh anti-corruption laws were implemented. Dato’ G has raised a question: why didn’t Dato’ Zaid reveal the names of those involved in corruption, if he is so confident of his claim?
“Dato’ Zaid’s statement is truly shocking, but why hasn’t he named those involved? If 80% of politicians are truly involved in corruption, wouldn’t it be better for us to know who they are? We need evidence and action, not just empty jabs during a tea session,” Dato’ G said in a statement to Ottrangknews.
Previously, Dato’ Zaid emphasized that a proposed death penalty for corruption and abuse of power could “cut the fat,” but it risked “wiping out the entire meal,” referring to the large number of politicians who would lose their positions if such laws were implemented.
However, Dato’ G questions Zaid’s boldness in mentioning such a high figure without providing clear evidence. He reminded that the people of Malaysia demand action and accountability, not just political rhetoric.
“If this law were truly implemented, the consequences would be huge, but the question is, how can we trust it if there are no names mentioned or evidence presented? The people don’t need more repetition, they want real justice,” Dato’ G added.
Dato’ Zaid also pointed out that implementing the death penalty for corruption and abuse of power might not be the solution. Instead, he argued that the most effective resolution should start with punishing those who fail to investigate or prosecute corruption cases, especially those involving the powerful.
“The current laws are enough, but enforcement has always been the issue. For decades, we have seen law enforcement agencies used as weapons against political opponents and shields for those in power. Is this what we want to continue seeing?” Dato’ G stated.
For Dato’ G, to change the political landscape of Malaysia and ensure it is free from corruption, more effective steps need to be taken, involving public awareness, transparency, and more active participation in pushing for reforms. He also called for the people to not rely on mere jokes or theories but to look for solutions based on evidence and effective actions.
Ottrangknews will continue to advocate for justice and transparency in governance, demanding that those involved in corruption and abuse of power be held accountable fairly and firmly
