KUALA LUMPUR, February 19, 2025 – Activist and Chief Editor of Ottrangknews, Dato G Kumaar Aamaan, has praised Bukit Gelugor MP, Ramkarpal Singh, along with all current and former MPs, NGOs, and media outlets for their efforts in bringing the issue of a Malaysian citizen’s impending execution in Singapore to the attention of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He emphasized that this fight is about justice and humanity, and every possible effort must be made to ensure that no individual is sentenced to death without considering the broader factors, including the possibility that they were merely ‘drug mules’ exploited by syndicates.
The Fight Will Not Stop
According to Dato G Kumaar Aamaan, the courage and determination of all involved in voicing this issue should serve as an example for Malaysians.
“We will not lose this fight as long as we are still alive. History has shown that justice prevails only when there are those brave enough to stand against injustice. The attempt to save a Malaysian citizen’s life is not just about the individual, but about upholding the principles of justice,” he stated.
He also referenced a case in Indonesia where the execution of a Filipino citizen, Mary Jane Veloso, was postponed after her testimony helped authorities dismantle an international drug syndicate. This demonstrates that justice systems should focus on capturing the real masterminds rather than punishing individuals who may have been victims of exploitation.
Urgent Appeal for the Prime Minister’s Intervention
Dato G Kumaar Aamaan expressed his confidence that the Prime Minister would consider this appeal and leverage Malaysia-Singapore diplomatic relations to save Pannir Selvam Pranthaman from execution.
“If other countries can fight for their citizens, Malaysia must do the same. We cannot remain silent when there is a chance to save the life of a Malaysian who may have been wronged by a larger criminal network,” he said.
He also urged all Malaysians to unite on this issue and continue putting pressure on the government to ensure such cases are handled with true justice.
