Kuala Lumpur, 5 December 2024 –
Dato G Kumaar Aaman has highlighted critical issues that continue to plague the poor, youth, and marginalized communities in Malaysia. In a meaningful speech, he called on citizens to understand their rights, foster awareness of social injustices, and take action to build a more equitable society.
Why is This Awareness Important?
Social injustice in Malaysia remains a significant barrier for the poor and marginalized to achieve a dignified life. Dato G Kumaar explained that these problems stem from deeply rooted economic, educational, and social systems that are not inclusive.
“We talk about becoming a developed nation, yet many out there still struggle to eat, send their children to school, or access healthcare. What rights do they have to equal opportunities like others?” he questioned.
He also emphasized that every citizen, regardless of religion, race, or background, has the right to:
1. Access to Quality Education
Education is a basic right for every individual. However, many children from poor families are forced to drop out of school due to the high cost of education. This not only affects their future but also perpetuates the cycle of poverty.
2. Decent Employment
Every Malaysian has the right to fair job opportunities without discrimination based on race, religion, or gender.
“Why are there jobs that only benefit a handful of elites while lower-level workers continue to struggle with wages insufficient to support their families?” he asserted.
3. Housing and Quality Living Conditions
Many families still live in unsafe or overcrowded homes due to a lack of affordable housing. The right to have a comfortable place to live should be a priority for both the government and society.
4. Healthcare and Public Services
Access to free and quality healthcare is a fundamental right for all citizens. Unfortunately, the national healthcare system is often overcrowded and unable to meet the needs of the poor, who are frequently overlooked in accessing these services.

Fostering Awareness and Unity
Dato G Kumaar urged Malaysians to support one another and unite to ensure the rights of marginalized groups are respected and protected. He cited teachings from various religious traditions:
Thirukkural (Hindu):
“Justice is the foundation of life. Without it, society will collapse.”
Al-Quran (Islam):
“Indeed, Allah commands you to act justly and with kindness” (Surah An-Nahl, Verse 90).
Christian Teachings:
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40).
“All religions teach the values of humanity. There is no room to allow injustice to thrive,” he stated.

Steps Forward
Dato G Kumaar outlined several important steps to improve the situation:
1. Strengthening Social Assistance Systems
The government needs to introduce more effective programs to help the poor break free from the cycle of poverty.
2. Economic Policy Reforms
The nation’s wealth must be distributed fairly, ensuring the lower-income groups benefit from development.
3. Raising Public Awareness
Every citizen needs to know their rights and act when those rights are violated.
4. Improving Education and Healthcare Policies
Free education and healthcare must be provided to all who need them.

Dato G Kumaar, with a message full of hope, stated:
“We all have a responsibility to ensure no Malaysian is left behind. This is not about race or religion but about humanity. Everyone deserves to live with dignity. Rise, Malaysians! Fight for our collective rights.”
He reminded that awareness is the first step toward change.
“When the people are aware, they will be empowered. Together, we can create a more just and equitable Malaysia.”
