Dato G Kumaar: Don’t Be Afraid to Demand Rights – The Budget Must Ensure Justice for All Communities; Lim Guan Eng Should Not Play Politics
Kuala Lumpur – In a stirring speech, Dato G Kumaar Aamaan urged Lim Guan Eng to truly understand and address the deep-rooted needs of the Indian and minority communities in Malaysia. He emphasized that while allocations for these communities have gradually increased, the key question remains: are these efforts sufficient to acknowledge their historical contributions and current needs?
Ahead of the upcoming Budget 2025, Lim Guan Eng proposed increasing allocations for the Indian community from RM130 million to RM200 million. While this proposal shows initiative, it has raised concerns among those who believe that the sacrifices made by the Indian and other minority communities deserve far more substantial recognition and concrete action.
“Enough with the theatrics,” Dato G Kumaar stated, calling for sincere, action-oriented support instead of mere political posturing. He also questioned why other Indian Members of Parliament remain silent in demanding fair allocations, suggesting that they might be afraid of jeopardizing their political positions and livelihoods. “Are they scared of losing their rice bowl?” Dato Kumaar asked rhetorically.
This narrative emphasizes that if the contributions and struggles of minority communities in Malaysia are to be genuinely acknowledged, the budget must reflect this through larger allocations. Dato Kumaar urged for a RM1 billion allocation for the Indian community and another RM1 billion for other minority communities to ensure fair distribution of resources and opportunities.
“After all,” Dato Kumaar reiterated, referring to the Prime Minister’s statement, “Every child in Malaysia is my child,” stressing that true sincerity requires real investments in the lives and futures of all Malaysian children, regardless of their community or background.
