Datuk Seri Hamzah’s Sharp Wit: Jokes About Anwar’s Political Promises

Must Read

KUALA LUMPUR, 8 FEBRUARY 2025 – Datuk Seri Hamzah, the Opposition Leader known for his sharp humor, once again entertained Parliament with his wit. A comment from a netizen even suggested that Hamzah’s humor is so entertaining that the legendary comedian P. Ramlee would “lose” in comparison. Laughter erupted in Parliament as Hamzah poked fun at the promises made by Anwar Ibrahim during his campaign and the current reality.

Hamzah reminded everyone about the promises made by Muhyiddin Yassin and Ismail Sabri regarding the depreciation of the ringgit and rising prices, which led to Anwar being chosen. “When Anwar takes over, prices will drop, and the ringgit will strengthen,” Hamzah said, referring to statements made by these leaders. However, now that the situation has changed, Anwar says, “Don’t use the ringgit’s weakness as a political weapon.”

“Why is he avoiding this issue now?” Hamzah questioned, criticizing Anwar, who is now the Prime Minister. According to Hamzah, the weakening of the ringgit is not an issue that can simply be ignored.

Hamzah firmly reminded the Prime Minister that he holds two key positions—Prime Minister and Finance Minister—and should take full responsibility for the country’s economic situation. “Take the necessary action. Why hasn’t a special task force been set up to draft an emergency plan?” Hamzah asked.

He also recalled 4 October 2022, when Anwar, as the Opposition Leader, expressed anger at the then-Finance Minister over the ringgit’s decline. Now, as Prime Minister, Hamzah argued that Anwar should be just as angry with the current Finance Minister.

“The current Finance Minister should be fired,” Hamzah declared, criticizing the minister’s performance as worse than his predecessors.

Hamzah openly urged the Prime Minister to take action by dismissing the current Finance Minister, as the economic situation continues to deteriorate.
