DBKL to Fully Handle Licence Applications and Maintenance of Ramadan Bazaars
The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will fully handle licence applications and maintenance of Ramadan bazaars in the capital starting this year to ensure reasonable rental fees of stalls and better management. This new approach is aimed at addressing complaints over business application fees.
Minister’s Explanation
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa said that this new approach was necessary to address the concerns of traders and stall operators. "In this new approach, we are also offering reasonable rental fees. The rental fee for a Ramadan bazaar stall is only RM500, which is about RM16 per day. There were complaints that some traders spent up to RM20,000 but failed to get a stall," she said when appearing as a guest on Bernama TV’s Ruang Bicara programme yesterday.
Collaboration with Corporate Bodies
Dr Zaliha said that DBKL will collaborate with corporate bodies to ensure a more organised operation of Ramadan bazaars. This collaboration is expected to improve the overall experience of traders and customers alike, making the Ramadan bazaars more enjoyable and successful.
Smart City Initiative
Meanwhile, on the smart city initiative under the CHASE (Clean, Healthy, Advanced, Safe, and Eco-Friendly) framework, Dr Zaliha said that the programme received a positive response from residents in the Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan Federal Territories.
"For example, when we implement the community garden initiative, we see residents coming forward, wanting us to implement the initiative in their areas as well," she said.
The CHASE City initiative is a vision to transform the three Federal Territories into clean, healthy, advanced, safe, and eco-friendly cities. The programme aims to improve the quality of life for residents, making the cities more livable and sustainable for future generations.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the new approach by DBKL to fully handle licence applications and maintenance of Ramadan bazaars is expected to bring about a more efficient and effective management of the bazaars. With reasonable rental fees and collaboration with corporate bodies, traders and stall operators can look forward to a more successful and enjoyable Ramadan season. The CHASE City initiative is also an important step towards creating a better future for the residents of the Federal Territories.
