From Gasping in the ICU to Breathing for Others: Dr. Ahmad Samhan’s Inspiring Journey

Must Read

Dr. Ahmad Samhan, a doctor who now inspires many, once faced life’s darkest moments before becoming a healer. His story is a testament to resilience and strength in overcoming extraordinary challenges.

An Outstanding Academic Journey

From a young age, Dr. Samhan excelled in his studies:

UPSR: 5As

PMR: 7As, 2Bs

SPM: 9As

Matriculation: 4.0 CGPA

He pursued a medical degree in Egypt and completed various professional certifications in Singapore and the UK.

A Dark Turn: Diagnosed with Ameloblastoma

Despite his academic success, Dr. Samhan faced a severe test at the age of 27 when he was diagnosed with ameloblastoma, a tumor affecting the jaw. This condition typically strikes individuals aged 30 to 40, but it came much earlier for him.

“As far as I remember, no one in my family has ever had this condition. I was in shock when I received the diagnosis,” he said.

A Long and Challenging Surgery

Doctors informed him that he needed to undergo two simultaneous surgeries:

1. Removing the affected left jaw.

2. Replacing it with bone taken from his leg.

The procedure lasted more than 12 hours, after which he was placed in the ICU.

“No one was allowed to accompany me. For the first time, I was fed through a nasal tube. The taste was thick and very uncomfortable,” he recalled.

A Critical Night in the ICU

One night, Dr. Samhan nearly lost his life when he vomited but couldn’t expel it because his mouth was wired shut, and he relied on a breathing tube inserted into his neck.

“I was gasping for air, trying to call for help, but no sound came out. My body was too weak to move,” he shared.

In that moment of despair, he silently recited prayers, asking God for a second chance at life.

Rising and Giving Back

After surviving this ordeal, Dr. Samhan emerged with permanent effects:

He can only chew using the right side of his mouth.

His left cheek remains numb due to severed nerves during surgery.

Despite these challenges, the experience gave him a new perspective. As a doctor, he committed himself to providing the best care for his patients.

“I understand what patients go through because I’ve been in their shoes,” he said.

An Inspiration to Many

Today, Dr. Ahmad Samhan is not only a dedicated doctor but also a motivational figure who frequently shares his story on social media, inspiring others to persevere through life’s difficulties.

“To my new followers, welcome. I hope my story provides value and inspiration to you,” he wrote in a recent post.

The dark moments he endured are now a beacon of hope and strength for those facing their own challenges. From being a patient, Dr. Ahmad Samhan has become a devoted healer.
