PUTRA HEIGHTS, SELANGOR – A massive fire incident that shook Putra Heights today, on the second day of Aidilfitri, has caused widespread destruction, with at least 190 houses damaged and 112 residents injured. Among them, 63 individuals are currently receiving treatment at three nearby hospitals.
Chronology of Events:
8:10 AM – The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received an emergency call regarding a gas pipeline fire belonging to PETRONAS at Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights.
8:22 AM – The first firefighting team arrived at the scene and discovered towering flames resembling a mushroom cloud, visible from several kilometers away.
10:00 AM – PETRONAS confirmed that it had shut off the main gas pipeline valve, but the fire continued to rage due to residual gas still burning.
11:15 AM – PLUS announced the partial closure of the ELITE Highway to ensure road users’ safety.
2:30 PM – The fire began to subside, but the surrounding area remained under strict security control by authorities.

Scene at the Disaster Site
Survivors described the incident as a ‘living nightmare.’ “We barely had time to escape with just the clothes on our backs. The fire was so intense, and the sound was deafening,” said an anonymous witness.
At the temporary evacuation center (PPS) in Masjid Putra Heights, the atmosphere was filled with grief. Volunteers from various NGOs and concerned individuals have stepped forward to provide aid.

Dato G Kumaar Aamaan called on Malaysians to assist the victims by donating to an emergency relief fund that will be announced by the authorities soon.
