Hadi Emphasizes Justice and Forgiveness as PAS Backs Najib Amid Controversy

Must Read

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 13 – PAS’s unwavering commitment to Islamic principles in governance means it prioritizes justice and forgiveness over political expediency, said party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

In a statement, Hadi explained that this approach underpins the party’s advocacy for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak regarding a purported royal addendum for his placement under house arrest.

Drawing parallels with Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) leadership during the conquest of Mecca, Hadi highlighted historical precedence for full forgiveness and leniency in punishment.

Quoting Quranic verses, Abdul Hadi urged PAS members to uphold steadfast principles, even amid adversaries or criticism.

“The actions of PAS leaders and members in championing issues to present Islam as an example for all, even towards those who have long opposed PAS, demonstrate the party’s enduring commitment. PAS does not act like a fleeting rainstorm that erases the heat of a long-standing drought,” he said.

He further noted that the concept of justice for all and prioritizing forgiveness has empowered Islamic principles to prevail over historical challenges, including colonizers who were wealthier and more powerful.

Unity for National Harmony

Hadi stressed the importance of unity among Malay Muslims, guided by Islamic values, as a foundation for national harmony and fairness for all citizens.

He reaffirmed PAS’s adherence to the Quran and Sunnah as its guiding principles, advocating for equitable and compassionate leadership, even when faced with opposition.

Solidarity for Najib

PAS leaders attended a rally last week in support of Najib, despite warnings from Istana Negara and police against such gatherings. Hadi maintained that the party’s position reflects its commitment to justice and forgiveness, rooted in Islamic teachings.
