SEPANG, April 16 — Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in Malaysia for a three-day state visit at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, marking his second official visit since 2013.
Landing at 6.30pm at KLIA, President Xi was greeted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, and Chinese Ambassador Ouyang Yujing.
Xi was honoured with a guard of honour by the Royal Ranger Regiment and treated to a multicultural performance representing Malaysia’s rich heritage. The state visit includes an audience with Sultan Ibrahim at Istana Negara and a state banquet in Xi’s honour.
Xi will also hold talks with Prime Minister Anwar on key bilateral, regional, and global issues, followed by an official dinner at Seri Perdana.
The visit celebrates 50 years of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations. In 2024, trade between both nations reached RM484.12 billion, cementing China’s status as Malaysia’s largest trading partner since 2009.
