Historic Reunion: Azmin Ali and Anwar Ibrahim Meet Again After Years Apart in Syawal Month

KUALA LUMPUR – In an emotional and nostalgic meeting, Secretary-General of Bersatu, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, could not hide his emotions when he reunited with his former ‘boss,’ Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, after being separated for years.

The meeting, which took place at the National Mosque during the Syawal month, is hoped to bring blessings to them and the entire nation. Azmin, who is also the State Assemblyman for Bukit Antarabangsa, had previously served as Deputy President of PKR, where Anwar was the President of the party in 2018.

However, Azmin’s political journey led him to the ‘Sheraton Move’, where he joined Bersatu in 2020 and was appointed as a Cabinet Minister under the Perikatan Nasional government led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“Just before Zohor prayers, I greeted YAB Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. It has been a long time since we met. We were reunited today at the National Mosque in the month of Syawal. May Allah SWT bless us all,” he wrote on his Facebook today.

Before the meeting, Azmin had attended the National Mosque to pay his respects to the late statesman, Allahyarham Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Several senior leaders from Bersatu, including Muhyiddin, Datuk Dr. Radzi Jidin, and Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, were also present, adding significance to this historic day.

Azmin described Allahyarham Tun Abdullah as a statesman of integrity, humility, and calmness, highly respected by all Malaysians. “His contributions to the development of the people and the country, based on noble values and strong principles, were immeasurable,” he said.
