Kajang, 24 April 2025 — In a world where challenges often dim the dreams of many, one young student has turned hardship into history. Nivetha P. Sundarajan, from SMK Abdul Jalil, Hulu Langat, has achieved stellar results in the SPM 2024 examination, proving that strength is born in silence and success is carved through sacrifice.
The youngest of four siblings, and the beloved daughter of Sundarajan and Shanti Govindasamy, Nivetha’s triumph shines even brighter against the backdrop of a deeply emotional and trying period in her life. As her grandmother battles cancer, and her family navigates life’s many pressures, Nivetha held onto one vision: making her family proud.
“When I heard the results, I just cried,” she said. “I was thinking of my grandmother’s illness, my mother’s struggles, and all that we’ve been through. I wanted this moment to be a gift for them.”
Nivetha scored high distinctions in nine subjects, including A+ in Economics and Moral Education, and a C1 CEFR level in English—a feat that reflects not just academic brilliance, but emotional resilience.
She credits her success to full attention in class, dedicated revision, and practicing past-year questions, along with the unwavering guidance of all her teachers. “To all my teachers and friends—thank you for always being there,” she said.
But at the heart of her achievement is her mother. “My mother is the reason I never gave up. She encouraged me every single day, even during the toughest times,” Nivetha shared.
