Issue of Najib’s Royal Pardon Addendum Not Discussed – PM Anwar

Must Read

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, emphasized that the issue of the Royal Pardon Addendum allowing Datuk Seri Najib Razak to serve his remaining prison sentence under house arrest was not raised during the Pardons Board meeting on December 8, 2023. He attended the meeting and confirmed this matter.

Anwar explained that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at the time did not include the agenda for Najib’s pardon request for discussion, but stressed the right of every prisoner to request a pardon. The decision on this issue will be determined by the Court of Appeal on January 6, 2025.

Najib filed a judicial review application regarding the Royal Pardon Addendum, but it was dismissed by the High Court due to insufficient evidence. Since August 23, 2022, he has been serving a prison sentence for misappropriating RM42 million from SRC International funds.
