Jordan Commends Malaysia’s Ongoing Humanitarian Efforts in Gaza
PUTRAJAYA, Dec 18 (Bernama) –
Jordan has commended and expressed its gratitude to Malaysia for the latter’s continuous and generous contributions to ongoing humanitarian operations in Gaza.
The ambassador of Jordan to Malaysia, Dr Ismael Maddallah Suliman Maaytah, said the leaders of Jordan and Malaysia frequently exchange views regarding the aggression in Gaza and the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state.
"The leaders of Jordan and Malaysia are committed to finding a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," said Maaytah. "We believe that a two-state solution is the key to resolving this conflict, and we are working together to make this a reality."
Maaytah noted that Jordan’s King Abdullah II has been actively engaging in international forums and regional discussions to help establish a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to children, women, and other affected individuals.
"This is our commitment and our principled position towards establishing a final solution, a two-state solution for a Palestinian state to be established," he said after receiving a US$5 million mock cheque from Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan at Wisma Putra here today.
Maaytah also highlighted the immediate needs of Gazans during the winter, saying they require essential items, including food, medical supplies, tents, milk for children, hospital equipment, and blankets.
"Medication is also severely lacking in Gaza’s hospitals, many of which have been destroyed by Israeli airstrikes," he said.
Malaysia’s contribution is not its first support for the Palestinian people channelled through Jordan. Previous contributions included aid to the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and the Hashemite Charity Organisation.
