PBB’s Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah to Retain Ministerial Posts

No Reshuffle in Cabinet Lineup

Despite being ousted as a vice-president of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah will retain his ministerial posts in Sarawak, confirmed PBB president Abang Johari Openg. Karim is the state minister of tourism, creative industry and performing arts, as well as state minister of youth, sports and entrepreneur development.

Abang Johari’s Assurance

Abang Johari, who is also the state premier, said there would be no reshuffle to his Cabinet following the outcome of the party elections. He emphasized that the vice-presidential contest has nothing to do with the reshuffling of the Cabinet, and Karim “will go on as usual”.

PBB Elections Outcome

In the PBB elections last night, Satok assemblyman Ibrahim Baki secured the highest number of votes for the post of vice-president in the PBB’s Bumiputera wing. Karim secured only 669 votes, placing him fifth out of the six candidates vying for the four vice-presidents’ posts.

Karim’s Reaction

Karim later said that it was up to Abang Johari to decide on his Cabinet posts and said he was willing to step down if required. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as a vice-president and minister, and looked forward to continuing to work for the betterment of Sarawak.

Abang Johari’s Message

Abang Johari also gave an assurance that the winners and losers in the party elections would continue to be part of PBB. “This means no one totally loses, no one wins everything. Those who lost are still part of the PBB team,” he said.

Conclusion

In conclusion, despite being ousted as a vice-president of PBB, Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah will retain his ministerial posts in Sarawak. Abang Johari’s assurance that the winners and losers in the party elections would continue to be part of PBB has provided a sense of stability and continuity in the state’s leadership.
