Kelantan Police to Use High-Tech Drones to Combat Cross-Border Crimes

Introduction

Kelantan police are set to utilize high-tech drones to tackle the issue of Malaysia-Thailand cross-border crimes. According to Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat, the drones will be used to curb smuggling problems, including drugs and controlled and illegal items brought into and out of Kelantan.

Drones to Help Curb Cross-Border Crimes

Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat expressed that the use of advanced technology drones can help them deal with smuggling problems from Sungai Golok to Pengkalan Kubor, covering a distance of about 100 kilometers with 27 static posts. He highlighted that these sophisticated drones can track over 50 kilometers at sea, eliminating the need to get close to the area.

Collaboration with Neighboring Countries

The police chief also announced that they have forged a collaboration with neighboring countries Thailand and Laos. He emphasized that the high-tech drones will be used during the Northeast Monsoon season, which is known to bring heavy rainfall and flooding, making it challenging for the authorities to monitor the borders.

Suggested Solution: Building a Wall Along Sungai Golok

Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat suggested to Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nasuruddin Daud to build a wall along the banks of Sungai Golok. He explained that the wall would have a dual purpose, namely to prevent cross-border crime-related cases and floods in Sungai Golok.

Conclusion

The use of high-tech drones and the proposed construction of a wall along Sungai Golok are expected to be effective solutions in combating cross-border crimes in Kelantan. The collaboration with neighboring countries and the adoption of advanced technology will undoubtedly strengthen the efforts of the Kelantan police in maintaining a safe and secure environment for its citizens.
