The Kelantan branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) is making good progress in disposing of various items seized in 99 cases, with an estimated value of RM607,000. According to Kelantan KPDN director Azman Ismail, the items in question have undergone court proceedings and received official clearance for disposal, including vehicles.
Range of Confiscated Items
The confiscated items were linked to five acts, including the Control of Supplies Act 1961, the Trade Descriptions Act 2011, the Weights and Measures Act 1972, the Trademarks Act 2019, and the Consumer Protection Act 1999. This includes a wide range of items, such as counterfeit clothing, perfume, women’s accessories, computer equipment, and fake branded bags.
Successful Disposal of Items
On a single day, 19 cases were disposed of, valued at over RM200,000. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the KPDN in tackling the issue of illegal activities in the trade and commerce sector. According to Azman, several methods will be used to dispose of the items, including direct disposal and donating some vehicles to organizations in need, such as the fire department, vocational centers, and so on, for use in training.
Vehicle Disposals
Azman also revealed that 60 seized vehicles have already been disposed of due to violations such as illegal modifications and having extra fuel tanks. Furthermore, more than 600 vehicles are currently being processed for disposal, involving cases from 2023 to this year.
